The family is one of nature's masterpieces.
I haven't been blogging much lately, other than posting up pictures... as you can see from the pics above, it's obvious why I've been slacking off since the beginning of the year. I'M PREGNANT! I am now at 25 weeks, the baby is expected to arrive anytime between 15-24 december... if he wants to, that is! And yes, the baby is a HE. We saw his little ding dong during the 20th week echography scan. So cute.
Hrm what can I say about being pregnant? I can tell you that as this is my first pregnancy, I didn't know my body as well as I thought I did. So many things are happening inside the body to make a baby. In the first trimester, I was tired most of the time. All I wanted to do is sleep, nap, sleep, nap. The boobs begin to grow, so do the nipples.. the nipples get larger and darker in preparation for breastfeeding. I didn't know this before! In terms of eating habits, I found that I lost weight in the first trimester because I didn't feel like eating. That's never happened to me before, losing weight without even trying I mean. My favourite foods suddenly appeared repulsive and I had this 'metallic' taste in my mouth.. as if I had loose change on my tongue! WEIRD. I vomited once. I feel very blessed though, cos some women are not that lucky. My mum was one of the unlucky ones, she told me she was practically LIVING in the toilet because she couldn't stop vomiting when she was expecting. What else? The gums bleed easily when I brush my teeth. My back hurts a lot. I fart a lot too, which is annoying cos it's something that can't be controlled. Hahaha don't judge me! My book on pregnancy states that 'no one does gas like a pregnant lady'. I have to agree, people just don't talk about it for obvious reasons... and no one told me! LOL. I also began to be more forgetful and clumsy. And I dream a lot, lot, lot during my sleep. Emotionally though, I would expect to get nasty mood swings but I didn't. I felt like I was more moody when I got my period. El toniosky can vouch for me, he said surprisingly I'm a happy pregnant bunny. Well, I reckon 99% of the time. ;p
Despite all this, things get better as I move into the second trimester. I stopped feeling nauseous. My appetite came back with a vengeance. Food never tasted so good! As the belly gets heavier, it gets more difficult to move around though... I can understand now why big people find it difficult to exercise, because getting out of bed already is a challenge in itself. But now I'm getting used to my new body shape.. in fact, now I embrace it. Afterall, it's a normal transition in life (and a blessing) only a woman can experience. And.. the BEST thing is when the baby started kicking! The feeling is so unreal, yet natural. I got all weepy when we heard the baby's heartbeat at one of the earlier scans, but nothing so far beats the feeling of being kicked by the small human being you and your husband made in your belly. :-) So happy! ALHAMDULLILLAH!
I really can't wait to be a mum.
